what is Laser Vein Removal?
Usually located on the legs and face, spider veins are small blood vessels that branch and become visible through the skin. Caused by many factors, like age and genetics, spider veins can be red, blue, and purple, which makes them difficult to hide. As spider veins usually multiply over the years and become more visible, it's ideal to get treatment when they first appear. To decrease the look of spider veins on the body and face, Mesbahi Plastic Surgery offers nonsurgical laser vein removal with ClearV™ technology at our locations in McLean, VA, Washington, D.C., and Beverly Hills, CA With ClearV, unsightly lesions can also be addressed to reveal clearer, smoother-looking skin. At your private consultation, plastic surgeon Dr. Alex Mesbahi will develop a personalized treatment plan to meet your specific needs and cosmetic goals.

Who is a candidate for laser vein removal?
Laser vein reduction sessions at Mesbahi Plastic Surgery may minimize the visibility of small- or medium-sized veins on the face and body. Commonly known as spider veins, these blood vessels are not usually a medical problem, but they are considered unwanted. Affected people avoid certain clothes (like swimsuits and shorts) or use a large amount of makeup to attempt to hide these spider veins. Laser vein treatments are great for people who are in overall good health, don't have blood clots, and aren't pregnant. If you wish to also remove dermal lesions, be sure to talk to Dr. Mesbahi about this during your consultation.
What to expect during laser vein removal
Nonsurgical laser vein removal with ClearV is performed in our office as an outpatient procedure and generally takes about 20 – 40 minutes based on the number of areas being addressed. During your laser vein procedure, you will be asked to relax in a reclined position in a private treatment room as the skin is prepared. At your request, a topical numbing cream can be applied before your treatment to minimize any discomfort. The ClearV laser handpiece is passed over the skin so that the wavelengths can reach the spider veins with multiple pulses that don't harm the surrounding tissue. The laser energy causes the vessels to collapse and shrink. During your session, lesion removal can also be incorporated if it's a part of your treatment plan. Once your procedure is complete, you will be free to go home and get back to your usual activities.
HOw long is recovery from LASER VEIN REMOVAL?
After your laser vein removal treatment, you may experience bruising, swelling, and redness; however, these symptoms should dissipate within 1 – 2 weeks. For faster healing and optimal blood circulation, we often recommend that patients wear a compression garment. It's also necessary to avoid extended sun exposure, and you should apply sunscreen frequently to the areas that have been treated. Certain patients notice improvements quickly, but outcomes will be different for each person. In your initial consultation with Dr. Mesbahi, realistic expectations will be reviewed along with recommendations on the number of treatments necessary to reach your optimal results. New spider veins will likely form over time so follow-up treatments may be performed as needed.

Prior to laser vein removal, a numbing cream can be applied to help make the treatment as comfortable as possible. Dr. Mesbahi will also be there to talk you through every step of the procedure. Our goal is to help you experience an optimal treatment that is also comfortable.
How much does laser vein removal cost?

Where can laser vein removal be used?
Unwanted spider veins can be found on the face, thighs, lower legs, and around the ankles. For areas on both the face and body, laser vein removal can be an appropriate treatment method. Our advanced laser system uses precision so the nearby tissue and skin is generally unaffected.
Does the vein go away?
A laser vein treatment will address the vein with a beam of light that affects the vein to destroy it. The technology is precise and focuses on the target area, so it won't affect the nearby skin. After the vein collapses, it will take about 1 – 2 months for the vein to be reabsorbed and disappear.
